Dr. Sunil Bellur is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Washington Eye Institute in Greenbelt, specializing in medical retina and uveitis. His path in medicine began at the University of Texas Houston Medical School, where his academic distinction earned him election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and his compassionate approach to care was recognized through induction into The Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at George Washington University, where he was appointed Chief Resident and received the Zimmerman Award for excellence in patient and surgical care. Dr. Bellur then pursued the highest level of subspecialty training through a combined Medical Retina and Uveitis fellowship at the National Eye Institute at the NIH in Bethesda — one of the world's foremost centers for vision research.
