Dr. Eller is a general ophthalmologist trained in the medical and surgical management of eye disease. The pathway there began in biology, moved through a graduate program in engineering, and closed with four years of ophthalmology residency. Published work on surgical exposure during training reflects a continuing interest in how eye surgeons learn to operate.

Dr. Eller earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Loyola University Maryland, with minors in engineering and economics. A Master of Science in biomedical engineering followed at Binghamton University, carried out in the Biological Soft Matter Mechanics Lab. Medical school came next at Howard University College of Medicine, and the degree was conferred in 2022. Residency began the following month and ran four years inside the Howard University Hospital department of ophthalmology, concluding on June 30, 2026.
I came to ophthalmology from engineering, and I still think about the eye as a structure with mechanics you can measure and repair. What I want a patient to leave with is a clear picture of what is happening in their eye and what we plan to do about it.

Research and Academic Work
Graduate research examined the traction forces bacterial colonies exert as they delaminate the interface between agar and a soft gel, work directed at the mechanics of medically relevant biofilms. That project supported a master's thesis and contributed data to scientific publications. A 2022 paper in the Journal of Academic Ophthalmology, written with four co-authors, measured how much exposure trainees across the United States receive to cornea and keratorefractive surgery.
