Dr. Rajini Seevaratnam, affectionately known as “Dr. See,” is a board-certified optometrist. Since joining the team in January 2018, she has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the practice, particularly in medical optometry, including primary eye care, comprehensive management of various ocular diseases, surgical co-management, and specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Seevaratnam’s journey in optometry began at the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, where she excelled academically and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Society. Her clinical training is extensive and diverse, with experiences in ocular diseases at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System in New York, low vision at the VA West Haven Healthcare System in Connecticut, and various primary eye care rotations in Massachusetts. She also brings valuable experience from her private practice at Doctors Vision Centers in North Carolina.
In addition to her clinical prowess, Dr. Seevaratnam has a strong research background, notably in glaucoma research at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. Her publication in this field is a testament to her dedication to advancing eye care through scientific inquiry.
Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Seevaratnam’s academic foundation was laid with a Bachelor of Science with Honors Specialization in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. She further expanded her scientific expertise with a Master of Science from York University, where she completed a thesis on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Before her optometry career, she contributed significantly to gastric cancer research, authoring numerous journal articles.
Outside her professional capacity, Dr. Seevaratnam enjoys traveling with her husband, Tim, and immersing herself in the cultural hotspots of Washington.
